Introducing the ACXplus Multi Purpose (MP) Line of tesa® Tapes
This exciting new line fits right at home with tesa’s amazing acrylic core product family. If you’re new to ACXplus, we have another blog post that may prove as a helpful introduction. Suffice it to say that ACXplus is the highest-performing tape that tesa makes. It’s a double-sided tape that uses a revolutionary acrylic foam core. This construction ensures the best results in even the toughest applications.
The MP line shares the same overall features that have set the ACXplus portfolio apart for years. Here is a quick rundown of some of these perks:
- Incredible viscoelasticity
- Excellent adhesion performance
- Stress dissipation and absorption
- Compensation of thermal elongation of bonded parts
Viscoelasticity: Reinforced by the foam core, ACXplus tapes have the perfect balance between viscosity and elasticity. The foam makes it hold exceptionally well together, giving it structural integrity. The acrylic core also provides the tape with phenomenal flexibility. This balance makes these tapes ideal for mounting and bonding applications.
High-performance adhesion: You can expect the very best result with ACXplus. This is even true on dissimilar, rough, and uneven surfaces. The foam characteristics of the tape give it excellent gap-filling traits.
Stress dissipation and absorption: Instead of having single points of stress that render materials vulnerable to breakage, these tapes distribute stresses across the entire bonded area. This improves the quality of the product by making it more durable to impact.
Thermal elongation compensation: Speaking of durability, the viscoelastic nature of these foam tapes give parts room to expand and contract according to temperature changes.
Considering all of these strengths, you find ACXplus tapes used across just about every industry imaginable. tesa recognizes the value in this product family’s versatile nature and has now developed the MP line to make them the “true all-arounder” for an even wider audience.
MP Portfolio Available Colors and Thicknesses
- Colors: Available in transparent, gray, or black
- Thicknesses: 19.7 mil, 31.5 mil, and 39.4 mil
With the MP series, you get all the above-mentioned benefits at a price point so attractive it’s competitive with general purpose tape solutions.
The Multi Purpose Focus of ACXplus MP Tapes
The new MP series is geared toward general-purpose (or as tesa calls it, Multi Purpose) applications usually calling for mounting or bonding:
- Mounting emblems
- Mounting displays
- Mounting decorative parts on household appliances
- Mounting signs
- Bonding glass
- Etc (hence the multi aspect of multi purpose)
Where other ACXplus options deal with specific, demanding applications, MP options offer your business the high quality of the acrylic core for general-purpose mounting and bonding projects.
The benefits of ACXplus are now more affordable than ever. So, the MP line both saves you money while giving your product the best possible performance and a clear advantage over competitors.
ACXplus MP Tape Product Example
tesa® ACXplus 7273
- Color: Black or gray
- Thickness: 31.5 mil
As is the mission of the tesa’s new MP portfolio, the 7273 offers a very attractive price point for general-purpose use. In their words, it “completes” the new MP lineup. Below are a couple of industry-specific application examples to illustrate its potential usefulness.
Window and Door Manufacturing Application Examples
- Simulated Divided Lite (SLD)
- Mutton bars
SLD: These offer a more energy-efficient take on window and door designs. Instead of actually dividing your window and door panes into multiple divided panels, SLDs are adhered to the outside of single-piece doors and windows to create the perception of actual divided frames. The 7273 bonds these dividers to glass with a high-performing bond that lasts as long as the home does.
Muntin bars: If you’re looking to give large windows a cozier, more inviting feel, you can attach metal or wooden bars to the windowpane. These commonly create a grill pattern of right angles or are used to create diagonal cottage-like looks. Since these forms of SLD come in both metal and wood, you may want to use 7273 because of its ability to permanently bond dissimilar materials together. This way, you know you have a secure hold to both the glass and the metal or wood surface.
Transportation Application Examples
- Mounting signs and decorative parts in the trailer industry
Mounting signs and decorative parts: Trailers are made to handle a lot. So, their decals and such need to use a bond strong enough to match. This is why 7273 works so well for fixing exterior signs and decorative parts to trailers. Its Multi Purpose bond allows you to work with a wide array of materials. Plus, its high performance ensures that the mounted parts can take on the constant rattling and impact that trailers sustain.
