Over the years, we at Walker Tape Converting had the pleasure of working with a number of different tape manufacturers. Recently, we’ve been able to start working more with Berry Global. They are a fantastic tape manufacturer, who can provide you with high quality tapes for any project.
To help you get to know Berry Global a bit more, we wanted to introduce you to one of their best tapes, the Adchem 650 series.
Some of the Benefits of the Adchem 650 Series
There are a lot of things to love about Berry’s Adchem 650 series. These tapes, that vary from transfer to double coated, are great for many reasons and have all kinds of benefits. Including:
- Bonding well to LSE surfaces
If you’re at all familiar with tape, you’ll know that Low Surface Energy (LSE) surfaces are a constant hurdle. So, when a tape is able to hang on to LSE surfaces, like coated fabrics, plastics or foam, it’s a great tape. The entire Adchem 650 series is designed to do just that!
- Holding up well in high or low temperatures
There are a lot of projects that could be exposed to extreme temperatures. Whether they’re outside or used in appliances, a lot of tapes need to be able to handle extremely high or low temperatures. Luckily, the Adchem 650 series can do exactly that.
- Having a high shear rating
Shear strength is so important in tapes, especially transfer tapes. This is how well the tape can hold to a vertical panel when weight is added to it. If a tape doesn’t have good shear strength, it can’t hang on like it should. The Adchem 650 Series, however, has a very high shear rating, even at elevated temperatures.
The Versatility the Adchem 650 Series
As you can tell, there is a lot to love about the Adchem 650 series on its own. But what are some of the best ways to use it? Let’s take a look at just a few of the industries where this series could be best utilized.
Medical
One of the biggest areas where Adchem 650 series tapes can be used is the medical industry. More specifically, they could be used for external devices like braces for knees, elbows, and wrists.
These devices need to have tape that provides thin bonds with high shear strength. This makes Berry Global’s Adchem 650 series more than ideal.
Braces are made from different combinations of metal, foam, plastic, elastic, and straps. So, for uses like this, we recommend Adchem 653 as it can bond well to LSE surfaces, like plastics that may be used on braces.
Fashion
When you talk about tape in fashion, generally people think of tape designed to go on skin and fabric. But there is a whole other side to the fashion industry where tape can be used: accessories.
Sometimes a sewn seam can look clunky. When you’re looking for a nice sleek look, tape is the way to go. In particular, Adchem 652 is a great option. We’ve already talked a bit about how well this series of tape does with LSE. So, materials like leather and foam, that may go into accessories, will be no problem for this tape.
Entertainment
In the entertainment industry, there are a number of different pieces of equipment and instruments that are needed. They often provide challenges for manufacturers as they:
- Involve LSE substrates
- Require shear strength
- May deal with extreme temperatures
So, it’s no surprise that the Adchem 650 series is a go-to group of tape for several different areas in the entertainment industry.
Adchem 655, among others, can be a great tape for things like manufacturing drums and putting together speakers.
Construction
In the past few decades, more and more contractors and construction companies have turned to tapes for several different uses. Tapes don’t wear out quite as quickly as metal fasteners. Plus, they create nice, seamless looks and provide solutions for things like floor installation.
Knowing this, it shouldn’t be surprising that many people have turned to the Adchem 650 series for their tape. In particular, Adchem 654 is a great choice for different areas in construction, like flooring and holding gaskets to metal roofing.
As you can tell, we’re pretty excited about being able to work more with Berry Global. They have an incredible line-up of tapes that we at Walker Tape Converting can work with to fit your specifications.
